Why digital transformation projects fail.

No clear business case and inadequate executive sponsorship from the start.

Project is seen as a technology silver-bullet and managed as an IT project rather than a business change project.

The business change is not well planned, managed and communicated, and consequently, the business did not embrace the change.

The Fantail method.

Other consultancy's focus on the technology. While technology is vital, we focus on business adoption of the technology. Everyone working together to rethink and reimagine the process, embrace the change and create a culture of continuous improvement. That's how we drive your success.

Planning

Set up the structure of the project from the outset. Establish the business case, agree to the scope, the proposed timeline, approach, people and cost. Identify all stakeholders and roles and responsibilities. Remember, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Governance

Establish the framework for oversight, decision making and reporting across the project lifecycle. Agree on the sponsor, business owner, steering committee, and any other authorisation bodies. Clearly define roles, responsibilities, accountabilities and controls.

Management

Establish how and who is responsible for the day-to-day project management. Determine the implementation plan, specify the tasks, deliverables, timelines and responsibilities. Agile, fast-moving and controlled.

Communication

Establish and maintain appropriate, effective, and timely communication to all interested parties across the project lifecycle. Create a communications plan for determining the audience, method and timeliness. Communication and engagement are fundamental for effective change management.

Risk

Establish the policies and procedures for identifying, measuring, monitoring and mitigating risk across the project lifecycle. Create a risk register. Incorporate into status reporting to invoke timely countermeasures and remove surprises.

Readiness

Determine how ready the business is for change across the project lifecycle. Assess the capacity, culture, knowledge and skills required. Identify the activities needed such as training, communications and engagement to drive successful adoption.
